Threat of Stadium Bombing in Ahmedabad: Indian Police on Alert

Indian authorities are on high alert after receiving a threatening email, as reported by Hindustan Times. The email demanded a transfer of ₹500 crore to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with a warning of planned attacks. The exact date of the email’s reception remains undisclosed.

The email threat stated, “We will blow up Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi stadium as well if the government fails to pay us ₹500 crore and release Lawrence Bishnoi. Everything sells in Hindustan, so we too have bought something. No matter how much you secure, you won’t be able to remain safe from us. If you wish to talk, do so on this email.”

Lawrence Bishnoi, the alleged recipient of the funds, is currently incarcerated in a Delhi jail. The email, suspected to have originated in Europe, was initially directed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which subsequently alerted Mumbai police.

While the threat is being taken seriously, authorities believe it might be a potential hoax or a mischievous act from a foreign source. Nevertheless, efforts are underway to trace the sender, and security measures for all cricket matches are being reassessed and fortified if necessary.

In response to the threat, stadium security has been significantly heightened. Approximately 3,500 police personnel were deployed for the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup on October 5 between Australia and New Zealand, according to News18.

It’s worth noting that last month, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a central leader of the US-based group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), had threatened to disrupt the cricket World Cup, resulting in an FIR being filed against him by the Ahmedabad police on September 29, as reported by News18.
