Nottingham Forest are finalizing a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus. The transfer fee is expected to be around £25 million, significantly less than the £42 million Juventus paid last year.
Only a few formalities remain before Luiz completes his medical. Once done, he will officially join Nottingham Forest and link up with manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Douglas Luiz is no stranger to the Premier League. He previously made over 175 league appearances for Aston Villa. His time in Italy was less successful, with limited starts during his spell at Juventus.
Nottingham Forest see Luiz as an important addition. The club wants to strengthen its midfield ahead of the upcoming season, especially with European competition on the schedule. Luiz offers top-level experience, strong passing skills, and tactical awareness.
The player has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract. Both clubs are now working on the final payment structure and bonus details.
Nottingham Forest have been very active this summer. They’ve already made several key signings to improve depth in all areas of the pitch. The addition of Luiz shows their serious intent to compete on both domestic and European fronts.
If the deal is completed soon, Luiz could be available for the club’s opening Premier League match. His return to England could prove to be a smart move for both the player and the club.
