England Squad for Pakistan Tests 2026: Full Team, Injury Updates and Match Schedule

England Squad for Pakistan Tests 2026 Full Team, Injury Updates and Match Schedule

England has officially revealed its England Squad for the opening two matches of the three-Test home series against Pakistan. The selection includes several changes due to injuries, recalls, and the team’s new leadership setup. Jordan Cox has received a major opportunity after being named as Englandโ€™s new No. 3 batter.

Joe Root will captain the side as he begins his second spell as Englandโ€™s Test captain. The series also marks the beginning of a new era for England following Ben Stokesโ€™ retirement from international cricket.

The England Squad for the first two Tests includes Joe Root (captain), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Matthew Fisher, Emilio Gay, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Jamie Smith, and Josh Tongue.

Jordan Cox earned his place after Jacob Bethell was ruled out with a right knee injury. Bethell suffered the setback during Englandโ€™s recent ODI series against India. Although he was expected to recover in time, Englandโ€™s medical staff decided he requires a longer rehabilitation period.

Cox made his Test debut against New Zealand earlier this summer. He is now expected to bat at the important No. 3 position. The role was originally expected to belong to Bethell before his injury.

Cox was also close to making his Test debut in New Zealand in 2024. However, he fractured a finger during training before the opening match. That injury created an opportunity for Bethell, who performed well in the position. With Bethell unavailable, Cox now has another chance to establish himself in Englandโ€™s batting order.

Dan Lawrence has also returned to the England Squad after an outstanding County Championship season with Surrey. The 28-year-old has scored 788 runs at an average of 65.66 this season. His performances include five first-class centuries.

Lawrence also offers useful off-spin bowling, giving England another all-round option. His versatility could prove valuable during the series against Pakistan.

The Pakistan series will also be the first squad selected under new head coach Stephen Fleming. Fleming has worked alongside interim coach Marcus Trescothick during the selection process. Trescothick will continue leading the team throughout the Pakistan series before Fleming officially takes over full-time coaching responsibilities.

The three-match Test series will begin at Headingley from August 19 to 23. The second Test will be played at Lordโ€™s from August 27 to 31. The final Test is scheduled at Edgbaston from September 9 to 13.

The upcoming series will be an important test for both teams. England will look to start the new leadership era with strong performances, while Pakistan will aim to challenge the hosts throughout the three-match contest.
