Barcelona Drop Surprise El Clasico Kit; Featuring Ed Sheeran

Spanish football powerhouse FC Barcelona has revealed a special-edition Ed Sheeran Play kit for their upcoming El Clásico 2025 showdown against Real Madrid. The new design highlights the logo of British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s latest album, Play, replacing the usual Spotify branding on the team’s iconic jersey.

The announcement came through Barcelona’s official social media platforms with the caption, “Ed Sheeran joins Barça. It’s time to play.” The collaboration marks another milestone in the club’s creative partnership with Spotify, its main shirt sponsor. Over the years, Barcelona has featured music legends like Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, and Karol G on their jerseys for major matches — blending football with global pop culture.

The Ed Sheeran Play kit will make its debut on October 19, when Barcelona’s women’s team faces Granada CF, and again on October 26, during the much-anticipated El Clásico clash at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.

Expressing his excitement, Ed Sheeran said, “Seeing my new album, Play, on the Barça shirt is one of those moments I can hardly believe. I’ve loved football my whole life, so bringing my music to such an iconic stage and sharing it with fans everywhere means a lot to me.”

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski also praised the collaboration, saying, “Ed’s songs have been part of our dressing-room playlist for a long time, so seeing his new album on our shirt for El Clásico is really special. Music and football unite fans in powerful ways, and I’m proud to represent that connection on the pitch.”

Fans will soon be able to get their hands on the exclusive limited-edition Ed Sheeran Play kit, which goes on sale October 15 at official Barça Stores. A pre-sale window will open from October 14 (10:00 p.m.) to October 15 (10:00 a.m.), giving fans an early opportunity to secure their collectible shirts.

In total, 1,899 shirts will be available — a nod to the club’s founding year — along with 22 jerseys signed by the players and 11 autographed by Ed Sheeran himself. These rare pieces are expected to become must-have memorabilia for both football enthusiasts and music fans around the world.

The partnership once again demonstrates FC Barcelona’s ability to merge sport, entertainment, and culture — making the Ed Sheeran Play kit one of the most talked-about collaborations ahead of El Clásico 2025.
