Government to Decide Pakistan’s Participation in Upcoming T20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said the final decision on Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup will be taken by the government. He made these remarks during a press conference on Saturday.

Naqvi stated that no country has the right to impose its will on another. He said the PCB is prepared for all possible outcomes once the International Cricket Council makes its announcement. However, he added that the board will follow the direction of the government.

He explained that Pakistan has its own position on the issue. The PCB will stand by that stance. Whether Pakistan takes part in the T20 World Cup or not will depend on official government approval.

Naqvi also spoke about recent reports of a fraud case involving players. He said that so far, no player has contacted the board. The PCB will review the matter once the players share their statements. A decision will be made after proper discussion.

The PCB chairman said the board is waiting for the Prime Minister to return to the country. He stressed that decisions by one nation should not affect others. He also commented on Bangladesh’s situation, calling their treatment unfair.

Naqvi said Bangladesh should remain part of the T20 World Cup under all circumstances. He believed that sports events should stay free from political pressure.

He added that the PCB remains answerable to the government beyond the ICC. This means national interests will always be given priority. The board will not make any major decision without official guidance.

Naqvi also shared updates on domestic cricket facilities. He said the PCB is working closely with the Punjab government. The goal is to improve stadium infrastructure and upgrade player facilities.

He confirmed that several grounds will receive better seating, lighting, and training areas. These improvements aim to meet international standards. They will also support future global events in Pakistan.

The PCB chairman said these efforts show the board’s long-term planning. Even as uncertainty remains around the T20 World Cup, the PCB continues to focus on development.
