Pakistan and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have agreed in principle to support the development of cricket in Iran through a partnership focused on technical expertise, coaching and player development.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan-Iran Cricket Association President Hussein Mokhtari and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
According to the agreed framework, Pakistan and the ACC will assist Iran by providing technical guidance, coaching programmes, umpire training and player development opportunities. The cooperation is intended to strengthen Iran’s cricket structure and help expand the sport in the country.
The initiative also seeks to improve institutional cooperation between the two sides by sharing cricket knowledge and supporting long-term development projects.
The proposed collaboration reflects growing regional efforts to promote cricket beyond its traditional markets. Training programmes and technical support are expected to help build local expertise while creating more opportunities for players, coaches and match officials in Iran.
While both sides have agreed in principle, further details regarding implementation and timelines have not yet been announced.
