Former Pakistan fast bowler Abdur Rouf Khan expressed strong criticism of the PCB selectors following Pakistan’s ODI series loss to Bangladesh. This defeat marked the first series loss to Bangladesh in 11 years.
Taking to social media platform X, Khan questioned the decisions of the PCB selectors and leadership in Pakistan cricket. He suggested that even a villager could offer better advice than the current team management. Khan recommended Salman Ali Agha as Pakistan’s ODI captain, citing the need for immediate improvements.
He further accused the PCB selectors of repeatedly making poor choices across all formats. Khan said the wrong players are being selected and highlighted that captaincy appointments for various formats have been mishandled.
According to him, granting the current team leadership more time would worsen the decline of Pakistan cricket. “The longer these individuals remain in charge, the more damage will be done to Pakistan cricket,” he wrote.
Khan’s comments drew attention due to his own experience as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He represented Pakistan between 2008 and 2009 and made a significant impact in domestic and first-class cricket since his debut in October 1999.
During his international career, Khan played one ODI against Zimbabwe in the 2007–08 season. Despite his limited appearances, his insights carry weight in the cricketing community, especially regarding team selection and leadership.
His criticism comes amid increasing pressure on the PCB selectors to improve Pakistan’s performance on the international stage. Fans and experts alike are calling for urgent reforms in selection policies to strengthen the team ahead of upcoming series and tournaments.
Khan’s remarks have sparked a wider debate about the accountability of the PCB selectors and the need for transparent decision-making in Pakistan cricket. The cricket board is yet to respond to his comments.
