RAWALPINDI — In a powerful show of solidarity with breast cancer awareness efforts, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a special pink-themed kit for the first T20 International (T20I) against South Africa, scheduled for October 28 in Rawalpindi.
The Pakistan men’s cricket team will swap their traditional green jerseys for pink outfits, symbolizing their support for the global cause during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (PINKtober).
The PCB revealed the new look through its official social media platforms, sharing images of national players donning the striking pink kits. “Turning pink for a cause that matters,” the PCB captioned, adding that the initiative is part of the #PINKtober campaign.
Cricket Meets Compassion
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore, will also include free clinical examinations and screenings for visitors on match day.
To further amplify the message, pink-branded stumps will be used during the game, while awareness visuals and messages will appear across the live broadcast. Players, match officials, commentators, and even broadcasters will wear pink ribbons to demonstrate their commitment to the cause.
PCB’s Message of Social Responsibility
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed emphasized the importance of using cricket’s influence to drive positive change.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board takes immense pride in using the power and reach of cricket to create awareness about causes that affect our society,” Syed said.
“Through the Pink Ribbon campaign, we aim to highlight the importance of early detection and regular screening for breast cancer, which can save countless lives.”
The gesture reflects how sports can go beyond competition, serving as a platform to inspire awareness, empathy, and collective action.
As the Pakistan vs South Africa T20I approaches, the pink kits will not only brighten the field — they will also serve as a beacon of hope and awareness for a cause that touches millions of lives worldwide.
