On Friday, Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage, the Sri Lanka Army commander, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters [GHQ] in Rawalpindi.
The military, as per a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations [ISPR], announced that they discussed professional matters of mutual interest and methods to strengthen bilateral defense connections. The Sri Lankan army chief commended the Pakistan Army for its professionalism and its achievements in ongoing operations aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

COAS Munir, in response, recognized the longstanding and significant historical ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, especially in the realms of defense collaboration and training for national development.
Additionally, the distinguished visitor is scheduled to observe the passing-out parade at Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, on Saturday.
Before arriving at GHQ, the Sri Lankan Army Commander paid respects by laying a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial.
A well-organized contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honor to the visiting dignitary.
