ISLAMABAD โ Mobile users in Pakistan have been advised to be careful when testing 5G speeds on their devices. Experts warn that frequent speed tests can quickly consume a userโs mobile data package.
Social media users have highlighted that even a few 5G speed testsโaround five to six attemptsโcan significantly drain a mobile data package. This may lead to unexpected charges or depletion of monthly data allowances. Users are urged to monitor their usage closely.
Earlier this week, JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim shared early results from 5G network tests. The tests came shortly after Pakistan concluded its latest spectrum auction, which introduced new frequency bands for mobile operators.
Ibrahim posted on X a screenshot showing a handset connected to a 5G signal in Islamabadโs F-7 sector. The speed test revealed download speeds of 1400 Mbps, offering a glimpse into the performance improvements that 5G could bring to Pakistani users.
High-speed 5G networks are expected to enhance applications like high-definition video streaming, cloud gaming, and real-time digital services. However, these faster connections can use a large portion of a mobile data package in a short time, especially during repeated speed tests.
The spectrum auction allocated new frequency bands to support both 4G expansion and future 5G deployments. Jazz emerged as the largest spectrum acquirer, securing 190 MHz across four newly introduced bands. This move is expected to strengthen network capacity and improve overall connectivity for mobile users.

As Pakistan transitions toward next-generation mobile services, users are advised to balance network testing with mindful data usage. Monitoring data consumption will help avoid additional costs while experiencing faster 5G speeds.
