New Smartphone Brand Set To Begin Local Assembly In Pakistan

AirLink Communication has revealed that it is in active discussions to add a new mobile phone brand to its local manufacturing portfolio. The development was shared during a recent corporate briefing, where company officials confirmed that talks are ongoing but did not disclose the brand’s name or any finalized agreement.

According to AirLink management, preparations are already underway to accommodate the potential partnership within the company’s existing manufacturing infrastructure. This move aligns with Pakistan’s growing focus on boosting local production and reducing dependence on imported mobile devices.

AirLink currently assembles phones for several international brands at its large-scale facility in Lahore. The addition of a new brand would further enhance the utilization of this facility and strengthen the company’s position in Pakistan’s expanding mobile manufacturing sector. The firm views this expansion as part of its long-term strategy to support domestic production, improve cost efficiency, and create new employment opportunities.

Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing industry has witnessed rapid growth in recent months. According to official data, over 3.5 million mobile phones were produced locally in July 2025 alone, marking an impressive 123% increase compared to the same period last year. This rise reflects the government’s supportive policies encouraging local assembly instead of relying on imported finished products.

AirLink has previously stated that its Lahore plant is equipped for high-volume production and already plays a major role in meeting Pakistan’s mobile demand. The company also sees potential in exporting locally made devices once regulatory approvals are secured.

Industry experts believe that AirLink’s decision to onboard another global brand could further strengthen Pakistan’s reputation as a rising hub for mobile manufacturing. It may also help stabilize prices for consumers by ensuring a consistent supply of locally produced smartphones.
