Airlink Communication Limited is set to start local assembly of Acer laptops in Pakistan, marking another major step in the countryβs growing tech manufacturing sector. The company expects the first shipment of 10,000 laptops to arrive by November as part of a pilot phase.
During a corporate briefing with Topline Securities, Airlink shared that the imported laptops will be used to test the market response. If the pilot phase performs well, the company plans to begin full-scale local production of Acer laptops soon after.
According to Airlinkβs management, once operational, the facility will have the capacity to assemble up to 10,000 Acer laptops per month. The project is expected to generate around Rs. 4 billion annually, contributing to Pakistanβs technology manufacturing landscape.
Airlink aims to reduce dependence on imported devices by investing in local assembly. The company believes this approach will help lower production costs, boost employment, and support the countryβs push toward self-reliance in technology. The firm also plans to gradually increase the share of local components in the manufacturing process as operations expand.
This initiative aligns with the governmentβs βMade in Pakistanβ campaign, which encourages domestic manufacturing and industrial growth across key sectors. By assembling Acer laptops locally, Airlink is not only strengthening its market position but also contributing to Pakistanβs economic development and digital transformation goals.
Airlink already has experience assembling mobile phones under several international brands at its Lahore facility. The companyβs entry into laptop production signals its strategy to diversify operations and capture new opportunities in the electronics sector.
The local assembly of Acer laptops could help make computing devices more affordable for Pakistani consumers while creating new employment opportunities and promoting skill development in the tech industry.
