In a game-changing move, Amazon has announced a massive $13 billion investment to build cutting-edge AI-powered data centres across Australia. This marks the biggest tech investment by any global company in the country’s history, set to boost cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure nationwide.
The plan will unfold over the next five years and is expected to create thousands of skilled jobs while helping Australia become a digital powerhouse. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised the project, saying it will drive economic growth, innovation, and supercomputing capabilities.

To support this expansion, Amazon will also launch three new solar farms in Victoria and Queensland, supplying over 170 megawatts of clean energy to its facilities. Once operational, Amazon will run 11 solar farms across the country, powering around 290,000 homes annually.
Since entering the Australian market in 2012, Amazon Web Services has trained over 400,000 locals in digital and AI-related skills. The company’s leadership said this latest push reflects their commitment to transforming how Australians use technology.
