Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) could exceed human abilities in nearly all fields within the next two to three years. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Amodei emphasized the rapid advancement of AI models, suggesting that they may soon outperform humans in most economically valuable tasks.
Amodei shared that while the exact timeline is uncertain, he believes that AI surpassing human capabilities across various domains is not far off. “I think it’s plausible it could be longer than that. I don’t think it will be a whole bunch longer than that when AI systems are better than humans at almost everything,” he said. His views are in line with other tech leaders, such as OpenAI’s Sam Altman, who has defined this phase as the emergence of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

The implications of AI-driven automation will likely be profound, according to Amodei, as societies may need to reevaluate human labor and economic structures. He warned that the rise of human-level AI and robotics could challenge traditional understandings of productivity and self-worth.
Founded in 2021, Anthropic has quickly risen as a major player in AI research, with its Claude models competing directly with OpenAI’s GPT series. The company is currently in talks for a $2 billion funding round, potentially valuing it at $60 billion, with strong backing from tech giants like Google and Amazon.
