The tech company Apple Inc. has agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class action lawsuit. The case is linked to claims about misleading promotion of an upgraded Siri assistant.
The lawsuit alleges that Apple misrepresented the launch timeline of its enhanced Siri feature. The issue relates to announcements made during WWDC 2024. The upgraded assistant was presented alongside Apple Intelligence.
According to reports, Apple suggested that the new Siri experience would arrive in 2024. However, the feature has still not been released. This delay has continued for almost two years since the initial expectations were created.
The settlement will apply to US customers. It covers buyers of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series. The agreement still requires approval from the court before it becomes final.
Importantly, the settlement does not include any admission of wrongdoing by Apple. The company will not officially accept that its advertising was misleading.
The lawsuit focused on expectations built around AI features. These features were promoted as part of the Apple Intelligence system. However, the most advanced Siri upgrade has not yet arrived.
During 2024 and 2025, Apple rolled out several AI-based tools. These included writing assistance, image generation, and ChatGPT integration. These updates were introduced gradually across devices.
Despite these releases, the more advanced Siri assistant remained delayed. It was expected to understand on-device context and perform actions within apps. This feature was seen as a major upgrade for users.
In March 2025, Apple confirmed the delay publicly. This announcement came months after the iPhone 16 launch. The company had earlier promoted the device as ready for AI features.
Following the delay, Apple also removed promotional ads. These ads had showcased the upcoming Siri capabilities before release.
Reports now suggest that Apple is working on a future launch. The upgraded Siri may arrive later this year. It could also involve support from Google’s Gemini AI models.
