Apple Set to Reveal Drastic UI Redesign Soon — Here’s What to Expect

Apple is preparing to introduce a significant user interface overhaul called “Liquid Glass,” according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

This new design approach will emphasize a “glassy” appearance with transparent and reflective elements, featuring shine and see-through effects across toolbars, app interfaces, and system controls. Such a major UI update is uncommon for Apple.

Though these changes may seem mainly cosmetic, they represent the first major redesign since iOS 7, when Apple moved away from skeuomorphic design toward a cleaner, more minimal look.

Gurman indicates that Liquid Glass could debut alongside the iPhone’s 20th anniversary next year. The special edition iPhone is rumored to boast curved glass wrapping around the entire device, ultra-thin bezels, and a notch-free display, complementing Apple’s new design philosophy.

The redesign will likely draw inspiration from the Apple Vision Pro to offer a consistent user experience across all Apple devices. Liquid Glass is expected to be implemented across iOS 26, macOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS, creating a unified visual theme.

Apple is expected to officially reveal the Liquid Glass interface at WWDC 2025, scheduled to start on June 9 at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT.
