Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued a new warning regarding a rise in cyber attacks targeting Pakistan’s critical infrastructure. The alert underscores the increasing use of cyber threats and misinformation campaigns by hostile groups seeking to exploit the current geopolitical crisis.
According to the CERT, attackers are using advanced techniques such as phishing, spreading fake news, and sending misleading messages to create confusion and instability within Pakistan’s information networks. These cyber strategies are aimed at manipulating public opinion and disrupting key sectors.

The advisory urges the public to be cautious when encountering unverified information or suspicious links, particularly on social media platforms. CERT emphasized the importance of relying only on trusted and official sources for information, as unconfirmed rumors can contribute to spreading false narratives and further destabilizing the situation.
This warning comes after heightened military hostilities between Pakistan and India, including India’s recent airstrike on Pakistani cities, which prompted a forceful response from the Pakistan Armed Forces. Pakistan’s military successfully shot down five Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets, and destroyed several military positions, causing significant losses to the Indian forces.
The government has called on the public to remain vigilant, avoid spreading rumors, and cooperate in preventing the spread of misinformation during this period of heightened cyber warfare and regional tensions.
