Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk warned that work and money could lose value within the next 20 years due to advances in humanoid robotics. He shared his insights during a special session at the Saudi Investment Forum, attended by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha.
Elon Musk described humanoid robots as the “biggest invention” of the upcoming era. He explained that these robots would not only revolutionize the labor market but also create new opportunities across industrial and service sectors. Musk emphasized that intelligent robots could play a key role in reducing global poverty by enhancing productivity and economic efficiency worldwide.
Musk highlighted that the world is entering a technological revolution in which the demand for digital infrastructure and smart solutions is expected to double. He stressed that within 10 to 20 years, work will no longer be a necessity for humans, but instead an optional activity, similar to hobbies or personal pursuits.
According to Elon Musk, humanoid robots will be capable of performing most production and service tasks more efficiently and at lower costs than humans. This, he explained, could significantly reduce the traditional importance of money and reshape economic systems globally.
Musk also discussed the potential decline in the value and role of currencies as automated productivity rises. He suggested that as economies adapt to robotic labor, conventional financial structures may need to evolve to keep pace with technological advancements.
Additionally, Elon Musk revealed plans for a major technological initiative in partnership with NVIDIA and Humane. He noted that Saudi Arabia has emerged as a critical hub for AI development, making it an ideal location for future global projects in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Musk’s statements underscore his vision of a future where humanoid robots redefine work, wealth, and economic value, marking a significant shift in how societies may function over the next two decades.
