The government has taken a significant step towards implementing the Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy by announcing plans to install EV charging stations at all petrol pumps in Islamabad.
During the fourth EV Policy meeting, chaired by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, progress on various initiatives was reviewed. The minister instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure the installation of charging stations across the capital and commended their efforts.

Rana Tanveer also revealed that the top 120 Federal Board students would receive free electric bikes. Additionally, the government intends to provide 39,000 electric bikes and 19,000 electric rickshaws through subsidized loans to encourage EV adoption.
The meeting also reviewed progress on developing 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways. Emphasizing transparency, the minister called for the digitalization of the entire process. He reaffirmed the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming Islamabad into a model city.
An official statement confirmed that the EV Policy would be formally announced soon.
