Free Internet and Calls Announced for All Pakistanis

In a major move to promote digital inclusion, the government has announced free internet and mobile minutes for telecom users across Pakistan.

Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja revealed that 2GB of free data and 200 on-net minutes will be provided to every mobile user for 24 hours. She also announced plans to distribute smartphones on easy installments and install free Wi-Fi hotspots in selected universities for six months.

The initiative aims to support over 200 million telecom users and bridge the digital divide, especially for women and students.

The minister emphasized that internet and smartphones are essential for education, health, and employment—not luxuries.
