Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the one-year deal, which includes a revenue-sharing agreement where Telegram will receive 50% of subscription revenues generated from Grok-related services on the platform.
To address privacy concerns, Durov assured users that xAI will only access data explicitly shared during interactions with Grok, maintaining strict user data protection.
This collaboration highlights the growing trend of AI companies seeking high-quality data to improve their models, as many open-source data sources become saturated. Some firms, like Meta, have begun using public user interactions for AI training, but it’s unclear if xAI will follow a similar approach.
According to xAI’s privacy policy, its parent platform X (formerly Twitter) uses public posts for AI training, but no details were provided regarding Telegram data use.
xAI has been actively forming partnerships this year to expand its influence in AI infrastructure and financial services, signaling its broader ambitions in the tech industry.
Neither xAI nor Telegram provided further comments when contacted by Reuters.
