India Blocks Pakistani YouTube Channels After Pahalgam Attack Coverage

In a major crackdown, India has blocked over a dozen Pakistani YouTube channels following their coverage of the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The channels had questioned the Modi government’s version of events, leading Indian authorities to accuse them of spreading “misleading and provocative content.”

Popular platforms like Geo News, ARY News, Samaa TV, and Bol News were among those restricted, collectively reaching more than 66 million subscribers. Independent journalists and sports channels like Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel also faced the ban, although Indian officials did not publicly share examples of the alleged misinformation.

The action comes amid growing tensions after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, where India linked Pakistani elements to the violence without providing evidence, a claim firmly rejected by Islamabad. Diplomatic relations between the two nations have since deteriorated, with closures at the Wagah border and threats over water rights.

Meanwhile, incidents such as the vandalism of the Pakistani High Commission in London have further worsened the atmosphere, with Pakistan accusing Indian agencies of sponsoring the attacks. The situation remains highly volatile as both sides harden their stances.
