Intel has reached a major milestone in processor performance after its Core i9 14900KF set a new world record for CPU frequency. The achievement was recorded by Chinese overclocker wytiwx.
The Intel processor was pushed to an impressive 9,206.34MHz. This makes it the first officially recorded CPU to cross the 9.2GHz barrier.
The result has been listed on HWBOT, the global benchmark platform for overclocking records. It confirms the new frequency milestone for the Intel Core i9 14900KF.
The record-breaking run was achieved using liquid helium cooling. This advanced cooling method is used for extreme overclocking experiments.
The setup included an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard. The system was paired with 16GB of DDR5 memory.
The benchmark details also showed the use of an ASUS ROG Thor 1600W power supply.
According to reports, the Intel chip was running at 1.348V during the record attempt. Only seven cores and seven threads were enabled for the test.
The Core i9 14900KF is part of Intel’s 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh lineup. It features 24 cores and 32 threads.
The processor includes eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. It also offers a maximum turbo frequency of 6GHz under standard conditions.
Other specifications include 36MB of Smart Cache and 32MB of L2 cache. The chip has a base power rating of 125W and a maximum turbo power of 253W.
The new record places Intel further ahead in extreme CPU frequency rankings. Only a small number of processors have ever crossed the 9GHz mark.
Earlier, another Core i9 14900KS had reached 9,117MHz. That record has now been surpassed by this latest result.
Reports also show that AMD’s highest listed frequency, achieved by the FX 8370, now ranks lower on the global list.
Experts note that this speed is not practical for normal users. It required exotic cooling and a specially tuned test environment.

Still, the achievement highlights Intel’s continued strength in high-end overclocking performance. It also shows the capabilities of its 14th Gen desktop processors under extreme conditions.
