ISLAMABAD – The iPhone 16 series has seen a major price cut in Pakistan after Apple announced the iPhone 17 lineup globally. Dealers across major cities report that both PTA-approved and non-PTA iPhone 16 models have dropped to their lowest prices since launch.
The price drop is driven by two factors. Firstly, the arrival of the iPhone 17 has reduced demand for older models. Secondly, Apple kept the launch prices of the iPhone 17 close to the iPhone 16 series, leaving little incentive for buyers to pick last year’s devices.
Among the models, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has witnessed the sharpest decline. The 256 GB version, once priced at Rs540,500, now becomes cheaper at around Rs430,000 in local markets. Similarly, the 512 GB Pro Max is being sold for as low as Rs510,000. Even the base iPhone 16 (128 GB) has become cheaper, now available at roughly Rs297,000, while the 256 GB model is being sold for Rs336,000.
Dealers say the fall in demand has forced them to cut prices and clear older stock before iPhone 17 shipments arrive. For many buyers, this creates one of the best opportunities in recent months to purchase a PTA-approved iPhone 16.
However, shopkeepers warn that the iPhone 17 will initially remain very costly in Pakistan. With limited availability, high demand, and heavy import duties, early buyers may have to pay up to Rs700,000 for non-PTA iPhone 17 Pro Max or iPhone 17 Air models.
Many experienced iPhone users prefer to wait, as new models often become cheaper after three to four months. For now, the sharp drop means the iPhone 16 series becomes cheaper than ever, offering a premium Apple device at a more reasonable price.
