Apple is reportedly planning to launch its first portless iPhone — the iPhone 17 Air — with no USB-C or Lightning port, relying entirely on Qi2 MagSafe wireless charging and cloud syncing.

This move, once delayed due to EU regulations, is now legally cleared. The EU confirmed that USB-C is only required if a device supports wired charging — meaning a fully wireless phone is exempt.
Expected to debut in September, the iPhone 17 Air will also be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, possibly setting a new standard for wireless-only smartphones.
