iPhone New PTA Taxes in Pakistan 2026 Latest Update, Rates & Impact

Good news has arrived for mobile phone buyers in Pakistan. Customs authorities have issued a new valuation ruling for used mobile phones. The update includes revised duty and tax rates for several popular models, including the ** iPhone **.

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation (DGCV) announced the fresh ruling to curb under-invoicing. Officials said the decision aims to improve transparency in imports. It also targets irregular practices in the used mobile phone market.

The new notification has been issued as Valuation Ruling No. 2035 of 2026. It sets updated customs values for 62 used mobile phone models. These include devices from Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel, and OnePlus.

According to customs officials, the previous valuation system had become outdated. It had been in place for more than eighteen months. During this time, many new smartphone models were launched globally. Older models also lost market value.

Authorities noted large gaps between declared import prices and actual market rates. These discrepancies led to revenue losses for the government. As a result, the DGCV revised the values under Sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.

The updated ruling directly affects popular ** iPhone ** models in Pakistan. Under the new structure, the PTA taxes for older devices have been revised. For example, the iPhone 11 Pro Max now carries a tax of Rs108,350. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has been set at Rs118,800.

Newer models face higher charges. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is taxed at Rs142,500. The iPhone 15 Pro now carries Rs146,800 in taxes. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has reached Rs160,000.

The ruling also includes projected PTA taxes for upcoming ** iPhone ** 17 series models. Taxes vary depending on registration through CNIC or passport. The iPhone 17 has a tax of Rs154,300 on CNIC. On passport registration, it drops to Rs128,500.

Higher-end models attract steeper taxes. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is taxed at Rs213,600 on CNIC. On passport, the amount stands at Rs182,700.

Customs officials said the revised values were finalized after careful analysis. This included reviewing 90 days of import data. Market surveys and stakeholder consultations were also conducted.

For mobile phones not listed in the ruling, assessing officers have been given authority. They can determine values under existing customs laws. This ensures no device avoids proper scrutiny.
