A colossal data breach has shaken the digital world, exposing sensitive information—including passwords—of over 180 million users globally. Major tech giants like Google, Facebook, Apple, Instagram, and Snapchat have been affected, sparking serious cybersecurity concerns in multiple countries, including Pakistan.
In response, Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has issued a nationwide advisory, warning both citizens and institutions to act immediately. The breach has reportedly compromised data from not just private platforms, but also from various government portals, raising fears of identity theft, account hacking, and potential national security threats.

N-CERT has urged users to promptly change their passwords, enable two-step verification, and avoid sharing credentials through unsecured channels. The agency strongly recommends using reliable password managers and keeping antivirus software up to date. “Vigilance is no longer optional,” the advisory stressed, warning that automated cyberattacks are likely to exploit the leaked data.
Government departments and critical organizations have also been instructed to assess damage and inform affected users. Cybersecurity experts are calling this breach one of the most severe in recent years, with potentially long-lasting repercussions for global and local digital infrastructure.
