Meta signs 20-year nuclear deal to power AI operations

Meta has signed a 20-year nuclear energy deal with Constellation Energy to power its AI-driven operations. The agreement will draw 1,121 megawatts from Illinois’ Clinton Clean Energy Center, replacing state subsidies and keeping the nuclear plant running from 2027 onward.

As AI demands surge, Meta joins Microsoft, Google, and Amazon in turning to carbon-free nuclear energy to fuel data centers. Meta called the move vital for “reliable, firm electricity” amid rising power needs.

The deal also adds 30MW of new capacity to the grid.
