A new study from MIT’s Media Lab has raised alarms over the potential cognitive and emotional impact of AI tools like ChatGPT, especially on younger users.

Researchers found that those who used ChatGPT regularly showed reduced brain activity in areas linked to memory and attention. Over time, users also became slower and more dependent on copy-pasting, suggesting a drop in mental engagement.
Another study noted increased feelings of loneliness and emotional reliance among users who frequently interacted with ChatGPT, especially through text.
