As a security measure for the Chehlum observance of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala, mobile phone services have been partially suspended in Rawalpindi and several other cities across Pakistan.

In Rawalpindi, mobile signals are unavailable along the main chehlum procession route, although service continues in other city areas and neighboring Islamabad. Meanwhile, Karachi experienced a gradual shutdown of mobile services in various districts earlier on Monday.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially announced the suspension of mobile services in six Sindh cities: Karachi, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Shikarpur, following directives from the Interior Ministry to ensure public safety during the chehlum events.

Additionally, the Sindh Home Department confirmed that the suspension will also impact Hyderabad, Thatta, Dadu, Sajawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Rohri, and Larkana.

The PTA stated that the mobile service suspension is a temporary but crucial measure to uphold security and prevent potential disturbances during the processions.
