Nintendo Switch 2 First Look Revealed

Nintendo

Nintendo has officially unveiled the first images of its highly anticipated console, the Nintendo Switch 2, in a video posted on YouTube. Staying true to its modular roots, the Switch 2 introduces a host of changes while maintaining the core design philosophy of its predecessor.

The console boasts a larger display, though it retains a noticeable bezel around the screen. Its Joy-Con controllers have been reimagined with a more ergonomic design, featuring magnetic attachment to the tablet and a larger, rounded build to complement the bigger screen.

Aesthetically, the Switch 2 takes on a sleeker, black-dominant design with subtle accent colors around the controller sticks and Joy-Con tops. It continues to support TV play via docking and offers improved handheld stability with a sturdier kickstand. A new USB-C port at the top enhances convenience during charging.

Fans will be pleased to know that the Switch 2 is backward compatible, supporting games from the original Switch in both physical and digital formats. While details on specific games are limited, the video teases a revamped Mario Kart game, likely an upgrade to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Nintendo has not disclosed pricing or a release date but plans to reveal more in a Nintendo Direct event on April 2, 2025. Enthusiasts will have to wait for further updates as the countdown to its release continues.
