Finland-based telecom giant Nokia announced plans to invest $4 billion in the United States to boost research, development, and production in artificial intelligence and network connectivity. The investment aims to accelerate innovation across mobile, fixed, IP, optical, and data center networking technologies.
The company said it would invest approximately $3.5 billion in U.S. research and development. This move highlights Nokiaโs commitment to advancing next-generation connectivity and AI technology, including mission-critical and defense solutions.
โNokia innovation and technologies are foundational to todayโs critical network infrastructure,โ said Justin Hotard, Nokia President and CEO. โOur expanded investment will help strengthen the nationโs capacity to deliver greater security, productivity, and prosperity through AI-optimized connectivity.โ
The remaining $500 million of the investment will go toward capital expenditures in manufacturing and research in U.S. states such as Texas, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The plan also includes enhancing automation, semiconductor manufacturing, testing, packaging, quantum-safe networks, and material sciences.
The announcement comes in collaboration with the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick called the investment โanother Trump administration win for America,โ emphasizing the importance of developing AI, data center, and national security technologies domestically.

The company expects the initiative to shape the future of networking and support the growth of AI-driven connectivity on a global scale.
