WhatsApp has rolled out new monetisation tools for businesses and content creators through its “Updates” tab, marking a major shift in how users can earn through the app.

Key features include Channel Subscriptions, where fans can pay monthly for exclusive content, and Promoted Channels, helping creators reach more users. WhatsApp has also introduced Ads in Status, allowing businesses to advertise within stories-style posts.
These tools are kept separate from private chats and are designed with privacy in mind, according to WhatsApp.
