PM Shehbaz Sharif Says Pakistan to Raise AI Investment to $1bn by 2030

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Indus AI Week event will help present Pakistan as a strong and reliable partner globally. He said the initiative will play a key role in transforming the countryโ€™s technological landscape. Addressing the event, the prime minister stressed that Pakistan is ready to move forward in artificial intelligence with confidence and determination.

Speaking about his earlier tenure as chief minister, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted several major reforms. He said strong steps were taken in education, health, revenue collection, and youth development. Special attention was given to the information technology sector in Punjab. He recalled initiatives such as laptop distribution for talented students and the creation of e-libraries to promote digital learning.

The prime minister said Pakistanโ€™s progress is the result of collective effort and strong national resolve. He noted that Lahoreโ€™s first Safe City project was launched during his tenure. He also mentioned the establishment of the countryโ€™s first IT university. These steps helped strengthen digital governance and public safety.

Referring to governance reforms, the prime minister said land record digitization ensured transparency. He said corruption was reduced through structural changes in revenue departments. The introduction of e-stamp papers increased government income. Full digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue also improved tax transparency.

Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that nearly 60 percent of Pakistanโ€™s population is youth. He said modern education and skills are essential for their future. He added that Pakistan is now prepared to enter the global artificial intelligence space with confidence.

The prime minister said AI education has been introduced in schools across the federation. This includes Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan. He added that efforts are underway to reach rural areas and provide youth with technical skills.

He acknowledged that artificial intelligence brings both opportunities and challenges. He said modern scanners and equipment were installed at ports to control smuggling. Youth training programs were also launched in agriculture, trade, and other economic sectors.

Concluding his remarks, the prime minister said Pakistan will face challenges with determination. He said the country will secure its rightful place in the global community through innovation and technology.
