Some Samsung Galaxy users are reporting serious battery problems after installing the July 2026 security update. Owners of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra say their phones are losing battery quickly and becoming unusually hot.
The issue was first reported by users on Samsungโs Community forum. Many said the problems started immediately after installing the latest software update. However, not every device appears to be affected, and Samsung has not yet issued an official statement.
One Galaxy S25 Ultra owner shared that the phoneโs battery dropped from about 85 percent at midnight to nearly 5 percent by midday. The user said the device had only around two hours of screen time during that period.
The same user claimed the phone was losing between 5 and 7 percent battery every hour while sitting idle. Several other users also reported excessive heat after the update. Many believe the overheating is linked to the unexpected battery drain.
Similar complaints have also come from Galaxy S24 Ultra owners. Some users said their phones no longer last a full day on a single charge. Before the update, the same devices reportedly provided normal battery life under similar usage.
A few users also reported issues with the Galaxy S24 Plus. These complaints included slower charging speeds along with reduced battery performance. Several affected customers said they tried restarting their phones, clearing cache files, and other common troubleshooting steps. However, these methods did not solve the problem.
Many users have already submitted diagnostic logs and device reports to Samsung. They hope the company will identify the cause and release a software fix soon.
Despite the growing number of complaints, the problem does not appear to affect every Samsung Galaxy device. According to Android Central, its Galaxy S25 Ultra continued to deliver normal battery life after receiving the same July 2026 update. This suggests the issue may be limited to certain devices or software configurations.
Samsung has not confirmed the cause of the reported battery drain or overheating. The company has also not announced whether a new software update is being prepared to fix the issue.
This is not the first recent software-related problem involving Samsungโs flagship phones. Earlier, the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra experienced charging issues when used with Samsungโs 45W charger and a compatible 5A cable. Some users reported slow charging, charging failures, or charging indicators appearing after unplugging the device.
Samsung later confirmed that the earlier charging problem would be fixed through a software update. Users experiencing the latest Samsung Galaxy battery issues are now waiting for a similar response from the company.

Until Samsung releases more information, affected users may need to monitor battery usage closely and report any unusual behaviour through the companyโs official support channels.
