Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Edge, Its Slimmest Flagship Yet

Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, its slimmest flagship smartphone to date, as part of a strategy to gain an edge over Apple in the premium phone market. With a thickness of just 5.8mm and a 6.7-inch display, the device targets younger consumers looking for ultra-portable, high-performance phones.

Set for release in South Korea on May 23 and the United States on May 30, the S25 Edge will be priced from $1,099 and rolled out across 30 countries, including China and key European markets.

Samsung said it achieved the slim profile by reducing the thickness of internal components such as the circuit board and thermal systems. Executive Vice President Moon Sung-hoon assured users that the phone’s optimized vapor chamber would effectively handle heat dissipation without compromising performance.

The new flagship also boasts advanced AI features, including multimodal capabilities that allow users to engage with the phone through voice and visual inputs simultaneously. Analysts believe the early launch could preempt Apple’s rumored thinner iPhone, giving Samsung a temporary advantage.

Samsung currently leads the global smartphone market with a 20% share, just ahead of Apple’s 19%, though it faces potential challenges in Q2 due to global trade uncertainties.
