Sindh Launches 30,000 Digital Skills Scholarships with Google

The Sindh government, in collaboration with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan, has announced over 30,000 scholarships for digital skills training in public universities across the province. The initiative, unveiled by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, aims to equip students with in-demand skills in AI, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, and more.

Shah emphasized the programme’s role in transforming Sindh into a hub of innovation while ensuring gender inclusivity, with at least 30% of scholarships reserved for women. The Google Career Certificates, which require no degree, can be completed within three to six months, offering students a fast-track to lucrative job opportunities.

Graduates from previous cohorts have already secured high-paying positions, with some earning up to Rs 1.6 million per month. A notable success story is Leena Kumari from the University of Sindh, who completed the AI Essentials course and landed a job at Evolution, earning recognition from Google itself.

The programme, covering 30 universities, will introduce new specializations like Prompting Essentials and Agile Essentials. Google’s Kyle Gardener highlighted the initiative’s potential to unlock career opportunities and boost economic growth.
