Snapchat has made a bold move to tighten its grip on Gen Z users by acquiring Saturn — a social calendar app popular among high school and college students. Though the financial details remain undisclosed, nearly 30 Saturn employees will now join Snap’s team.

Founded in 2018, Saturn allows students to manage schedules, coordinate with friends, and plan their daily lives through a social-first calendar. Snap confirmed that Saturn will continue as a standalone app, while its features may soon be woven into Snapchat “in innovative ways.”
The app is already used in 80% of US high schools, according to Snap, making it a strategic addition for turning online connections into real-world engagement — a growing priority in Snapchat’s evolving strategy.
