Google has confirmed that Snapseed 3.0 will soon arrive on Android, following its June release for iOS devices. The announcement was shared by the Snapseed team on Reddit in late December. Work on updating the Android app began in November, though the company says the release is still โa few months away.โ
The Snapseed 3.0 update on iOS introduced a complete redesign of the app. It features a refreshed interface and a new icon, addressing years of minimal updates. Users now have a dedicated homepage showing a grid of edited images, making it easier to navigate past work. A circular Floating Action Button (FAB) provides quick access to the system image picker.
The editor in Snapseed 3.0 is organized into three main tabs. The โLooksโ tab offers preset filters and lets users create their own. The โFavesโ tab allows up to four frequently used tools to appear. The โToolsโ tab shows all available editing options in a grid format.
Adjustments are now controlled with a dial-based system, replacing previous sliding gestures. The app offers tools across four categories:
Adjust & Correct: Adjust, Details, Tonality, Curves, White Balance, Color, Lens Blur, Vignette
Retouch & Transform: Selective, Brush, Healing, Portrait, Crop, Perspective, Expand, Head Pose
Style: Film, Glow, Retrolux, Vintage, Black & White, HDR Scape, Drama, Noir, Grunge
Creative: Double Exposure, Frames, and Text
The iOS version also introduced the Snapseed Camera, complete with retro film filters for quick shooting and editing.
Although Android users must wait longer, the confirmation of Snapseed 3.0 coming to their platform is promising. Fans hope the delay will not last more than a few months. The update signals Googleโs renewed focus on Snapseed, ensuring the app remains a powerful photo-editing tool across both iOS and Android devices.
