Starlink Registration in Pakistan Tied to Elon Musk’s Controversial Remarks

The National Assembly Senate Standing Committee on IT, led by Senator Palwasha Khan, discussed Starlink’s licensing in Pakistan, with concerns arising over Elon Musk’s recent social media activity.

Starlink’s registration, submitted in February 2022, awaits security clearance from the Ministry of Interior and approval by the Pakistan Authority for Space and Regulatory Bodies (PASRB).

Senators criticized Musk for endorsing anti-Pakistan sentiments linked to Indian MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. Senator Afnan Ullah Khan suggested granting Starlink a license only if Musk apologizes publicly for his remarks.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja recently announced Starlink’s registration in Pakistan, to which Musk confirmed ongoing negotiations on X (formerly Twitter).
