WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for iOS users, allowing them to send a voice note when a call is not answered. This makes following up on missed calls easier and faster.
With the latest update, WhatsApp adds a ‘Record voice message’ button directly on the call screen. Previously, users had to end the call, go to the chat, and then send an audio message. Now, a short voice note can be sent immediately with the missed call notification.
The new feature ensures that recipients understand the purpose of the call without waiting for a text message. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp adds plans to extend this functionality to video calls, enabling users to send quick video messages if a video call goes unanswered.
This update is part of WhatsApp’s effort to streamline communication. While the feature is currently rolling out for iOS users, there is no confirmed release date for Android devices yet.
In addition to the voice message feature, the platform has redesigned its Calls tab. The updated call hub now integrates both voice and video call tools into one interface, offering a more intuitive calling experience.
The hub includes four key options:
- Call button – Start individual or group calls with up to 31 participants.
- Scheduling button – Plan calls for a later time.
- Keypad button – Dial numbers directly, even if they are not saved on the device.
- Favourites section – Pin frequently contacted numbers for quick access.
Experts say the new features reflect WhatsApp’s focus on improving user experience and making its communication tools more convenient. With WhatsApp adds such updates, users can manage calls and follow-ups more efficiently, reducing the need for extra steps.
