WhatsApp Now Enables Sending High-Quality Videos

WhatsApp has recently introduced the ability to send and receive HD videos, following its recent update for HD images. This feature, which has been available on other apps for a while, is now making its way to WhatsApp users.

The addition of HD video support comes shortly after WhatsApp enabled high-resolution image support. The company had previously confirmed that HD videos would be introduced in the near future, and now it’s delivering on that promise.

The rollout of this feature is gradual, so it might take some time before it becomes available in all regions. However, it has already been confirmed that HD video functionality is accessible in Pakistan.

With this update, users can now choose to send videos in 720p quality, which is an improvement over the default 480p option. Similar to sharing photos, when sending a video on WhatsApp, an “HD” button will appear above the clip along with editing options.

While HD images offer a noticeable difference in quality, the upgrade to high-definition videos might not drastically affect size or quality, but it is a slight improvement. For example, a 2MB video might increase to about 3.8MB when using the HD option.

Just like HD images and other media on the platform, WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption ensures the security of HD videos. Recipients of HD videos will see a prominent HD badge displayed alongside the content, indicating its enhanced quality.
