WhatsApp has launched a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy, giving users more control over their messages and media sharing in both private and group chats. Initially leaked earlier this month, the feature is now available to all users worldwide.
Advanced Chat Privacy blocks others from exporting chats, stops automatic media downloads, and restricts messages from being used in AI-powered tools within WhatsApp. However, the feature currently does not prevent screenshots, a gap the platform has acknowledged.

The feature is particularly useful in group chats where members may not know each other well, such as health forums or community groups, helping to maintain greater security even after messages are sent. Users can enable it by opening a chat, tapping the chat name, and selecting Advanced Chat Privacy from the settings.
WhatsApp confirmed this is just the beginning for the tool, with future updates expected to bring even stronger privacy options for users.
