While TikTok’s fact-checking partners do not moderate content directly, their assessments provide valuable input for TikTok to take appropriate action in line with its Community Guidelines. TikTok’s strategy includes innovative product features, such as the Pakistan Election Center, a dedicated hub in English and Urdu providing authoritative information on the election, including voting procedures and locations.
The platform emphasizes a user-centric approach, offering easy-to-use reporting tools to empower users to identify and report potentially misleading content. TikTok is committed to raising awareness among its users through educational content and in-app guides, equipping the community with skills to discern credible information for informed participation in the electoral process.
Enforcement of TikTok’s Community Guidelines, available in both English and Urdu, plays a crucial role in its misinformation combat strategy. The platform employs a multi-pronged approach, including content removal, redirecting search results to authoritative sources, and reducing the discoverability of unverified information to maintain a safe and reliable space during the election period.
TikTok highlighted transparency and collaboration as core principles in its efforts, emphasizing its commitment to working closely with experts, safety advisory councils, and civil society organizations to enhance its policy framework and promote reliable information sources within the app. This collaborative ethos underscores TikTok’s commitment to being a responsible social media platform.
