Thieves Ignore Cash, Steal $30K Worth of Labubu Dolls in LA Heist

A Los Angeles resale shop has lost thousands of dollars in merchandise after a burglary targeting the popular Labubu dolls. The incident happened early Wednesday at One Stop Sales in La Puente, a store that had only been open for two months.

Security footage shows four suspects breaking into the shop and stealing boxes of Labubu dolls. They ignored other goods, focusing only on the sought-after plush collectibles. Co-owner Joanna Avendano estimated the loss at over $30,000 in inventory.

Avendano said the shop had just announced a Labubu restock on social media, which may have alerted the thieves. She also mentioned seeing a suspicious truck outside the night before. Authorities believe the burglary was planned.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed deputies responded at 1:29 a.m. Several boxes of Labubu dolls were taken, valued at around $7,000 at retail but much higher in the resale market. The suspects reportedly used a Toyota Tacoma to escape, later found abandoned.

Labubu dolls, made exclusively by Pop Mart, have become a viral hit on TikTok and among celebrities such as Rihanna and Lisa from K-pop group Blackpink. At One Stop Sales, prices reached $500 for rare versions. On resale sites, some fetch thousands.

The high demand has also fueled a black market for counterfeit Labubu dolls, making genuine pieces even more valuable. The store’s loss highlights the growing security risks faced by businesses selling in-demand collectibles.

Police are continuing their investigation while the shop owners assess the damage. For now, fans of Labubu dolls will have to keep hunting for the elusive toys — preferably through legitimate means.
