The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday a cash reward of ₹58 crore for the Indian cricket team following their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India secured the title by defeating New Zealand in the final.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India clinched their third Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9. This victory also marked their second consecutive ICC title, following their triumph in the U19 Women’s World Cup 2025 earlier this year. India last won the Champions Trophy in 2013, having previously shared the title with Sri Lanka in 2002.

BCCI President Roger Binny praised the team’s accomplishment, emphasizing that winning back-to-back ICC titles reflects India’s dominance in international cricket. He stated that the cash prize acknowledges the dedication and efforts of both the players and support staff.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla also commended the team for their composure and determination throughout the tournament, highlighting their ability to handle pressure and serve as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers in India.
India’s Journey to Glory
India began their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a convincing six-wicket win over Bangladesh, thanks to Shubman Gill’s eighth ODI century. They followed it up with another six-wicket victory against Pakistan, led by Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI hundred, which helped them chase down 242 runs with ease.
A crucial win against New Zealand in the final group-stage match secured India’s place at the top of the table, with Varun Chakravarthy’s five-wicket haul and Shreyas Iyer’s 79-run knock playing key roles. In the semi-final against Australia, Kohli’s impressive 84-run innings guided India to a four-wicket victory, earning them a spot in their third consecutive Champions Trophy final after 2013 and 2017.
In a closely contested final against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma’s crucial 76-run knock helped India secure a four-wicket win. Shreyas Iyer emerged as India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 243 runs at an average of 79.41. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy were India’s top wicket-takers, each claiming nine wickets in the tournament.
