BLA Female Suicide Bomber Hits FC Convoy in Balochistan Amid Rising Attacks

A female suicide bomber affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) targeted a paramilitary convoy in Kalat, Balochistan, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to four others.

According to a foreign publication, the attack took place on the N-25 Quetta-Karachi highway while a Frontier Corps convoy was on the move.

The bomber, associated with the Azad Faction of BLA, approached the convoy and detonated herself near an FC fort, killing one soldier instantly and wounding four others, who were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, continuing its pattern of using female operatives for suicide missions against Pakistani security forces. Several female members of the group have carried out similar bombings in the past, including a 2022 attack in Karachi that claimed the lives of three Chinese nationals.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while security measures in the region have been intensified. The increasing use of female suicide bombers highlights a significant shift in the tactics of separatist groups in Balochistan as they persist in their armed struggle against the Pakistani state and foreign interests.

Balochistan, a sparsely populated province, has witnessed a surge in militant violence, with hundreds of military and law enforcement personnel killed last year—marking it as the deadliest year for security forces in over a decade.
