Doctor Sentenced to Over Five Years for Unsafe Circumcisions on Children

A UK court has sentenced a doctor to five years and seven months in prison for conducting unsafe circumcisions on children, resulting in severe pain and complications.

Dr. Mohammad Siddiqi, a 58-year-old from Birmingham, previously worked at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

He began performing circumcisions at private residences to earn extra income. His unsafe practices caused significant harm, with some children requiring hospitalization, and one narrowly avoiding death.

Despite being suspended and later removed from the General Medical Council (GMC) register, Siddiqi continued performing circumcisions, disregarding hygiene and safety standards. Hampshire police criticized him for showing complete indifference to the risks and suffering inflicted on the children.

The former doctor admitted to 25 offenses and was accused of delaying legal proceedings. Following his confession, the court handed down the prison sentence.
