In an attempt to conceal the crime, her death was falsely attributed to medical reasons, and her body was hastily buried. However, after the case gained attention on social media, Rawalpindi CPO Khalid Hamdani took immediate notice and ordered the exhumation and post-mortem examination.
The autopsy report confirmed that the victim was eight months pregnant and had endured severe physical torture. Following this revelation, police registered a case against her brother-in-law, Gulfraz, a suspect named Ameen, and other family members involved. Raids are underway to apprehend the accused.
According to the police, the incident went viral on January 13, prompting CPO Khalid Hamdani to assign SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar to lead the investigation. After gathering witness statements, the police obtained court approval for the exhumation and forensic examination.
The forensic analysis further confirmed the pregnancy and extensive abuse. As a result, Jatli Police filed a case against Gulfraz, his mother Gulzar Begum, his sister Anila Bibi, and Ameen, charging them with rape, murder, torture, and evidence tampering.
The police report also states that Gulzar Begum, the mother of Gulfraz, was responsible for poisoning the victim.
Residents Rustom Ali and his brother disclosed that the victim’s sister, Rafia, had informed them about the ongoing abuse by Gulfraz, Gulzar Begum, and Anila Bibi.
Before the victim’s tragic death, she had confided in her sister, revealing that Gulfraz and Ameen had repeatedly assaulted her, leading to her pregnancy. On January 13, upon returning home after dropping off her children at school, Rafia witnessed Gulzar Begum and Anila Bibi violently beating the victim with sticks. She later discovered that they had mixed poisonous pills in water and forced the victim to drink it.
Police officials confirmed that DNA samples and forensic evidence have been sent for analysis. Raids are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspects, including Gulfraz, Ameen, and the two female accused. Authorities remain confident that the culprits will be brought to justice soon.
