Pakistan Advances to Asian Junior Squash Championship Semifinals

Pakistan has secured a place in the semifinals of the Asian Junior Squash Championship after a tough battle against Japan.

In a thrilling encounter, Pakistan triumphed over Japan 2-1 to move one step closer to the title. Insa Ali Shah outplayed Renzi Makenyo, while Abdullah Nawaz dominated Shinsaku Kiri with a commanding 3-0 victory.

22nd Asian Junior Squash Team Championship

The prestigious 22nd Asian Junior Squash Team Championship is currently underway in Hong Kong, China, from February 12 to 16, 2025. Organized by the Asian Squash Federation, the event features top junior teams from across Asia competing in boys’ and girls’ categories.

The boys’ tournament includes teams from Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The girls’ category features teams from Hong Kong China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan has displayed remarkable performance in the tournament, earning a spot in the quarterfinals with a dominant 3-0 victory over Macau, China. A standout performance came from Abdullah Nawaz, who swiftly defeated Ka Hei in just 16 minutes, demonstrating his exceptional skill.

Malaysia, a strong contender, faces a selection challenge as all four players have delivered outstanding performances. Their head coach, Ajaz Azmat, is carefully considering the best lineup for their crucial quarterfinal match against Kuwait.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, led by Royal College’s Matheesha Wijesekara, has arrived in Hong Kong with high hopes of making a significant mark in the competition. The team aims to prove itself on the international stage while gaining valuable experience.
